Religious leaders urged to help Arunachal government in achieving COVID vaccination target

Arunachal Pradesh Health Minister Alo Libang has urged faith-based leaders and community influencers of the State to support the State government in gearing up for COVID-19 vaccination coverage to cent per cent.

ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Health Minister Alo Libang has urged faith-based leaders and community influencers of the State to support the State government in gearing up for COVID-19 vaccination coverage to cent per cent.

Addressing a virtual meeting of all faith-based organizations here on Tuesday, Libang said that the State needed to improve the inoculation coverage to cent per cent for which religious leadrers play a major role in motivating beneficiaries for taking both the doses of the jabs.

Representatives from Christian forums, Jama Masjid, Gorkha Welfare Association, Donyi Polo, Shiv Mandir Trust, self-help groups of various districts participate in the virtual meeting, a communiqué informed here. Libang while appreciating the religious leaders' enthusiasm in the meeting, hoped that vaccination percentage would improve with their participation.

National Health Mission (NHM) Mission Director C R Khampa in his address presented the Covid-19 vaccination status in the State. As on Monday, a total of 7,79,925 people (77 per cent) have been administered the first dose of the vaccine while 5,59,976 (55 per cent) got the second dose in the age group of 18 and above, Khampa said. State Immunization Officer Dr Dimong Padung during the meeting clarified the queries of the faith based leaders related to Covid-19 vaccination and appealed them to support the Har Ghar Dastak campaign, the communiqué added.
