RGU VC Prof Saket Kushwaha inaugurates central library institutional repository

ITANAGAR: The Central Library Institutional Repository of Rajiv Gandhi University was virtually inaugurated on Thursday by university vice-chancellor (VC) Prof Saket Kushwaha which, is very rich in collection of its research outputs including research journals articles, conference papers, technical reports, computer programs, technical manuals, e-books and others.

In his inaugural addresses, Prof Kushwaha dwelt on the tireless efforts put in by the library staff.

"Anything achieved by any institution, there is unseen force behind," he said and congratulated the institutional repository created by the central library staff with the able leadership of Prof P K Acharya and his small team.

Institutional Repository of RGU is another feather in the central varsity cap, the VC said and requested all the faculty members, researchers, students to take full advantage of the system which, he said, would help in teaching learning process and output of quality research.

The VC also assured that there would be library consortia so that all affiliated colleges and other north eastern participating community also could access the university's institutional repository.

"Such institutional repository definitely helps in curbing repetitive research work," Prof Kushwaha said and added that among the north east region central universities, the RGU is in forefront and it is the e- platform that visible to everyone.

RGU Pro Vice Chancellor Prof AMitra stated that the fundamental role of any university library is enhancing the quality research of faculty, researchers, since there has been drastic change in ICT and preservation of knowledge.

He appreciated the team effort and leadership quality of the VC for his keen interest in developing the university's library.

Registrar Dr N T Rikam in his deliberation said that university library is the mirror of an institution; it is the blood and heart of any university.

"The rich collection of digital as well print materials and the service provided by the library will definitely reflect the quality of its standard. Our institutional repository should reach larger end users with standard protocols," he added.
