ITANAGAR: Roing MLA Mutchu Mithi has allocated an amount of Rs. 5 lakhs from his MLA-LAD fund for the ASHA workers under Covid provisions while responding to the humanitarian request of Gram Panchayat Chairperson Association (GPCA) of his constituency on Wednesday.
The instant response came from the MLA while he received a letter for financial assistance towards the health care workers by the GPCA, Roing.
According to the GPCA, the health care workers during this Covid pandemic have been delivering their responsibility towards the society without regular salary and are facing basic living expenses. The GPCA said that the Asha worker are temporary supporting hands in health care services, without any regular salary unlike other workers from the health department.
"Since the honorarium paid to the asha workers is less as per the need to feed their respective family. We the GPCA from Roing constituency appeal for a sum of Rs. 6000/- each of the ASHA workers engaged in Covid duty," the letter added.
Meanwhile, in a quick response to the humanitarian request by GPCA, Mithi in a letter to the District Deputy Commissioner immediately recommended allocating the MLA-LAD fund to the workers.
Mithi appealed to the DC to process the recommendation for the early release of funds for distribution. According to the request, 80 ASHA workers from various blocks of Roing constituency will be provided with Rs. 6,250/- each.
