Itanagar: Days after incidents of violence reported from Namsai district, the overall law and order situation in the area remained peaceful since Monday, police said.
Following the incidents of group clashes that left about a dozen people injured during a dawn-to-dusk Namsai bandh on Saturday, State Home Minister Bamang Felix, at the directives of Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Sunday dashed to the district to take stock of the situation.
Namsai police station OC CB Rai informed that no untoward incidents have been reported since Monday.
He however, said that “though everything has been normal as of now an undercurrent is still there”, without divulging further.
Speaking on security arrangements, the OC stated that police personnel have been constantly on patrolling duty and deployment is still on in all the affected areas.
It may be mentioned here that the Home Minister during his visit to Namsai on Sunday appealed both the affected communities to maintain peace and harmony. He further fixed a meeting with all the stakeholders on December 2 to look for a solution to the “vexed” issue.
