Itanagar: Slow pace of work of double-lane highway to Hayuliang in Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh bordering China with improvement after realignment by executing agency Sushee Infra Private Ltd (SIPL) has affected military movement and irked general public.
The 68-km stretch, part of district connectivity road including 50-km widening and improvement while 18-km new alignment, was allotted two years ago, but the SIPL has completed 18-km formation cutting in easy stretches so far only and rocky portion are untouched. The stipulated target to complete the project was three years but its dilly delaying tactic has crippled the task.
Moreover, there is allegation of non-payment of labour wages for six months exposing poor financial status of SIPL.
However, the poor laborers have sought intervention of Lee Ete headed AAPWU and DL&EO.
The SIFL, which has been executing widening of existing 311-km road from Nechipu to Hoj via Seppa, Sagalee under TAH project, might have diverted the resources to the project due to protest by East Kamng district unions, it is suspected. The National Highway Infrastructure Development Cooperation Limited (NHIDCL) has signed MoU with the SIFL for which it is expected to monitor the work progress.
