ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Tesam Pongte and Deputy Speaker Kardo Nyigyor on Monday held their first coordination meeting with the officers and officials of the Legislative Assembly. The significant meeting marks their initial engagement with the Assembly staff following their assumption of office.
During the meeting, the Speaker discussed key priorities aimed at streamlining legislative processes and enhancing administrative efficiency. He emphasised on the importance of fostering a collaborative working environment and highlighted the need for a strong focus on work culture, discipline, and punctuality to ensure smooth and effective functioning of the house.
Nyigyor elaborated on the strategies to improve administrative operations within the Assembly. He stressed on the significance of teamwork and open communication and further underscored the importance of maintaining high standards of discipline and punctuality among all staff members.
Both the Speaker and Deputy Speaker expressed their commitment to driving progress and implementing initiatives that will benefit the staff and Assembly Secretariat. They also agreed on the need for continuous improvement and proactive measures to address any challenges that may arise, an official communiqué informed.
Notably, BJP MLA from Changlang North constituency Tesam Pongte was unanimously elected as the Speaker of the Eight Legislative Assembly of Arunachal Pradesh, while Likabali MLA Kardo Nyigyor of BJP was elected as his deputy, on Saturday.
Both Pongte and Nyigyor were lone contestants for the posts, who filed their nominations on Friday.
Immediately after taking charge Pongte while addressing the members asserted that he would perform his duty without any biases and would give equal chance to all the members to participate in debates and deliberations, irrespective of political affiliation.
Pongte who was the deputy speaker in the Seventh Legislative Assembly of the state, while expressing his gratitude to the members for reposing faith on him, said that he would uphold the dignity of the house.
“I am for all and assure you that I will not let your expectations down and will give equal opportunities to all to present their grievances,” Pongte said.
