ITANAGAR: The Students Union Movement of All Arunachal (SUMAA) has accused the Special Investigation Cell (SIC) of the police of being partial in the ongoing investigation process of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) scam and urged them to investigate without any pressure or partiality.

Speaking to reporters at the press club here on Monday, SUMAA's general secretary Akom Suraj Ligu claimed that despite sufficient evidence provided by various sources, the SIT failed to arrest officials involved in the APPSC cash-for-job scam.

He said that the public has trust in the SIC, but cannot trust the way it is investigating this case.

"I have closely monitored the series of incidents related to the APPSC job scam, and surprisingly still none of the commission members are arrested. Whereas, even SIC has no clue about the CCTV footage of strong rooms", he said.

Ligu also alleged that the investigation authority has failed to invoke Section 164 CrPC against all the arrested accused persons. Instead, Section 161 CrPC has been invoked which may weaken the case.

"164 CrPC is a strong Section where the authority can record any confession or statement made by the accused in the course of an investigation. On the other hand, Section 161 CrPC provides for oral examination of a person by any investigating officer when such person is supposed to be acquainted with the facts and circumstances of the case", he added.
