Itanagar: The under-construction Miao-Vijaynagar road, which assumes much importance due to its strategic location, apparently has got a booster with Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein instructed the Rural Works Department to speed up the construction on a war footing.
Addressing a meeting he had with RWD Minister Honchun Ngandam and Chief Engineer RWD-cum-CEO PMGSY D Nyodu at his Secretariat office here on Tuesday, Mein while taking the status report of the under-construction border road from Miao to Vijaynagar asked the RWD to expedite the construction works on a war footing. He said that Vijaynagar being one of the major border towns of the State, which is located near the international boundary of Myanmar and the State Government, is seriously concerned about the road connectivity to this remote town.
Mein further said that the State Government is ready to provide an additional fund of Rs 39 crore for re-alignment and construction of culvert & bridges, as sought by the department. However, he stressed that the department should judiciously use the fund and to complete the road within the stipulated time.
The RWD Minister while requesting an additional fund of Rs 39 crore for completion of the road project informed that due to the uniqueness of soil conditions and a shortfall in sanctioned DPR, new alignment has to be made, which necessitates seeking of the additional fund, an official communique informed here on Wednesday.
