SSB hands over Amrit Kalash to district administration

ITANAGAR: The 38th Battalion of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), under the Meri Maati Mera Desh pro-gramme, handed over the kalash containing Maati and grains collected from various villages near SSB border out-posts in Tawang district to deputy commissioner Kanki rang on Wednesday. Earlier, the officers, Jawans, and fami-ly members of the battalion took Amrit Kalash Yatra from the battalion headquarters to the DC office in the border district. The DC and the Commandant of the battalion, Rajan Kumar Srivastava, received the kalash from family members of SSB jawans in the DC office and kept the kalash with other kalash containing soils collected from various veer bhumis of the district earlier in the month of August this year.

Speaking on the occasion, the commandant informed that the soil collected from every nook and cranny of the country would further be carried to state capitals and ultimately to the culmination function of the year-long pro-gramme of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsava, proposed in the national capital later in the first week of November. The soil and grains would be used in making Amrit Vatika a national monument at the national capital as a tribute to the martyrs who made supreme sacrifices for the country, a communiqué informed here.
