Itanagar: A massive social service with the theme ‘Sources Segregation under Swachh Bharat Mission’, involving dwellers of Rime market colony, Urban Development and Housing Department, representatives from Galo Ane, Mothers’ Vision and SUMA was conducted all along the riverside of Yomgo at Aalo in West Siang district on Wednesday.
Huge garbage accumulated along the one km stretch on bank of Yomgo River were cleared and disposed off right from early morning, an official release informed.
Speaking on the occasion, Urban Development & Housing deputy director Hali Welly appealed the residents to segregate sources of waste into wet source and dry source, dumping of waste source, recycling of dry sources for rag pickers, availing of Individual household latrine and constitution of flying squad by district administration for implementation of solid waste management Rule, 2016.
He also disclosed that penalty for littering from Rs. 500 to 1000 at auto stand, shopkeepers, households and store and godowns would be imposed as fines and spot challan would be given to defaulters, the release added.
