ITANAGAR: Kamle DC Adong Pertin has exhorted the people of six villages in the district to take the second dose of Covid-19 vaccine as many villagers are reluctant not to take the jabs due to negative posts in social media.
Pertin attended an awareness meeting on COVID-19 vaccination and routine immunization organized by the District Health Society (DHS) at Jigi Village under Gepen Circle and Sigin-II Zilla Parishad segment. He called upon all the eligible villagers of Ligu, Hankar, Yitor, Pobo, Bomikoto, and Jigi to take the second dose of the vaccine to make the villages cent per cent vaccinated, an official report informed here on Saturday.
As reported, the six villages as per the head count of the health department of the district has achieved cent per cent vaccination for the first dose but due to some negative social media posts, the villagers are reluctant to take the second dose of the jab.
Stating that good health is real wealth, the DC asked the head gaon burahs, gaon burahs and panchayat members to dispel all the myths and superstitions around the vaccine and take stern action against the rumor mongers and make their village cent per cent vaccinated.
Jigi Village located at the distance of 120 KM from Raga, the district headquarters, is the last eastern most village of the district bordering Upper Subansiri district and the DC is the first district head to visit the village. During the awareness programme, myth regarding death after getting second dose of vaccine was dealt upon by DRCHO Dr Kapu Sopin.
Later, the DC accompanied by other officials, inspected schools, health facilities and anganwadi centers of three villages, added the report.
