'Tap Arunachal's water potential to benefit humanity' Says Dr Arvind Kumar

ITANAGAR: Renowned environmentalist and founder-president of India Water Foundation (IWF) Dr Arvind Kumar has evinced interest to help the Arunachal Pradesh government to tap the huge water potentials of the State, for greater interest of the people. The IWF, a NGO, is working on generating mass awareness at national level and in sub-regional level in Asia, on water and its impact on human health, economic growth and environmental sustainability.

It has already ventured into Meghalaya and Sikkim. The IWF in partner with the Sikkim government in water resources, environment and sustainable development goals (SDG), recently launched "Sikkim Comprehensive Water Resources Plan" at Gangtok.

Dr Kumar, who specializes on ecosystem-based adaptation, water-energy-food nexus, with specific emphasis on inter-linkages between water, environment and sustainable development goals (SDGs), is a member of World Water Council Taskforce on Transversality, National Wetlands Committee of Union MoEF&CC, technical advisory committee for India's Third National Communication and Biennial Update Reports to UNFCCC, Meghalaya State Water Resources Council, among others.
