ITANAGAR: The traffic through the vital Tamen Bailley in Arunachal Pradesh's Kamle district would be closed from October 8 for the next two months for changing the structure, a senior district official said on Saturday. The bridge connects Kamle district to Upper and Lower Subansiri districts in the State.
The re-launching of the bridge would be carried out by the Public Works Department (PWD) through its Kolkata-based concessionaire M/s Bridge & Roof Company Ltd for which, traffic movement though the bridge would be suspended totally from October 8 onwards, said Kamle DC Hengo Basar.
Informing that all materials and technicians have reached the bridge site, the DC said that it has been decided to begin work from October 8. The work may take two months for completion.
However, an alternative foot suspension bridge (FSB) has been built downstream to facilitate movement of people which, would be regulated by police for safety of all commuters.
Asked about supply of essential commodities for the district, he clarified that buffer stock has been kept, but supply from Daporijo and Ziro would be arranged in case of any requirement.
