ITANAGAR: As part of the ongoing crackdown on insurgent groups operating in Arunachal Pradesh, an active cadre of United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) (ULFA-I) was apprehended from Tirap district by a joint team of security forces in Tirap district on Monday, Army sources informed.
The cadre was apprehended from Horu Chinghan area of the district during a joint operation by security forces and district police, Kohima-based Defence spokesman Lt Col Sumit Kumar Sharma informed on Wednesday.
Based on specific intelligence inputs regarding presence of the rebel in general area of Horu Chinghan, the security forces along with district police launched an operation and apprehended the cadre, the spokesman said.
A .32 mm Chinese made pistol, one .32 mm magazine and one .32 mm live round was recovered from his possession.
The apprehended cadre along with the recovered items was handed over to Khonsa Police Station for further investigation, the spokesman added.
