Union Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey lauds Forest Minister Mama Natung

ITANAGAR: Minister of State for Environment & Forest and Climate Change Ashwini Kumar Choubey appreciated Environment and Forest Minister Mama Natung for initiating Arunachal Airgun Surrender Abhiyaan (AASA) in the state for the protection of wildlife.

Choubey, who is in his maiden visit to the state earlier today visited the state Biological park here and planted saplings, paid tribute to the forest martyrs, interacted with the staff and officials.

Addressing the media today, Choubey appealed to the minister to continue the AASA and ensured every possible help from his end to protect the Hollock Gibbon, which is an endangered species. He appreciated the campaign and appealed to the people of the state to support the state government in the move. Appreciating the efforts made by the state government to protect the environment and forest, Choubey also said that the central government is keen on the development of Northeast and Arunachal Pradesh in specific in every sector. He also informed that the central government under CAMPA has sanctioned sufficient funds to the state for various programmes in the year 2019. Likewise, the central government has also accepted the project of the Dibang Tiger Reserve.

"Besides CAMPA fund, the state government of Arunachal Pradesh has also put forth various request related to the preservation of Environment & Forest, to which the central government is working on it," Choubey said, adding that the central government welcomes any projects from the state relating to the Environment & Forest and Climate Change. He said the government is also looking into the eco-tourism aspects in the state and to solve the issue of transportation for valued timber. Accordingly, any projects from the department to establish eco-tourism spot in the state is more than welcome, he added.

Choubey, who also holds the ministry for Consumer Affairs and Food & Public Distribution, said that the central government is happy to learn that the free ration distribution of any other food schemes in the state is reaching every nook and corner of the state. He said the central government is focused on the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to reach out to every individual in the country to provide fortified rice by the year 2024.

Added, the central government has provided 13 hallmark licenses, among which 11 are gold and 2 is for Silver to Arunachal Pradesh to take forward the cultivation, storage and distribution of food grains.
