ROING: Union Minister for Law & Justice, Kiren Rijiju visited Roing, under Lower Dibang Valley district on the third day of his 'Jan Ashirwad Yatra', on Saturday.
Addressing a gathering here on Saturday, Rijiju sought the blessings from the citizens and also thanked the people of the State for their love and support. He also claimed that his elevation as a Union Minister was possible only due to the recognition accorded to him by the people of Arunachal Pradesh.
Kiren Rijiju added, ''Celebrating 75 years of Independence; we are on an important journey and have to decide on the roadmap of what we want our State to be in 100th year of our independence in 2047.
"Likewise, a well versioned roadmap should be finalized for the development and progress in the district in the next 25 years. Our elders have taken the State forward; and now, it's our turn to shoulder the responsibility and take forward ou State in all aspects," he added.
Speaking on 'The Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order (Amendment) Bill -2021', Rijiju said that for a tribal, their identity is very important.
"The recent inclusion and correction done in the Constitution was a historical step as it bestowed recognition to many tribes of the State. Till then, our children were in danger due to not having a proper identity and not getting all the benefits given by the government. But now, the situation has changed tyotally. They will be provided Constitutional safguards," added Rijiju.
The Union Minister also called for encouragement of sports culture in the State. He appealed to all stakeholders to work for ''real professionalism in sports'', which, he said, ''will eventually lead the sportspersons of the Himalayan State to represent India in international sports events as weel as in the Olympics. He also called for promotion of quality tourism in a balanced and sustainable way. ''We must preserve our nature, land, identity, culture and traditions'' stressed the Union Minister.
On the occasion, MP (Member of Parliament) of East Assembly Constituency, Tapir Gao in his speech highlighted the welfare schemes of the Central government. Referring to the 'Ujjwala Scheme-2.0' as an instance, he said that under the scheme free gas cylinders will be provided to the households living in BPL (Below Poverty Line) and also the people who were left out in the first phase.
Local MLA (Member of Legislative Assembly) Gum Tayeng expressed her happiness over the recognition given to the son of the soil by the Central government. Among others who spoke on the occasion were State BJP president Biyuram Wahge, and MLA Mutchu Mithi.
