ITANAGAR: The long felt 80-meter Hazu Bridge spanning over Haju River in Lohit district of Arunachal Pradesh is ready for inauguration which, would provide the much needed respite to two most underdeveloped and interior villages — Bhekuliang and Vedagam — in the district. The villages used to remain cut off by monsoon rains for months regularly while, no proper road from Digaru tri-junction to the river has been built despite sanction of crores of rupees.

The public here are quite happy over this development. Mentionably, while demanding a bridge, they were strongly resenting the alleged misappropriation of funds,

PWD Executive Engineer T Gao said that the bridge proposed by former Minister Mohesh Chai could be a reality because of the untiring efforts of the present MLA, Karikho Kri and Lohit Deputy Commissioner, Prince Dhawan. "We have been working very hard to complete it on time for which vehicles are crossing now but only 100-meter of approach road on both sides need to be blacktopped for the inaugural ceremony," he added.

Gao, accompanied by Assistant Engineer T Lomi on Friday inspected the bridge and lauded the constructing agency for its timely work as per specification.
