ITANAGAR: The CMs of Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh along with Union Minister Kiren Rijiju took to the adventure mode when they tried their hands on archery in Gyankhar village.

In a video shared by the Arunachal CM Pema Khandu, CM Sangma along with Pema Khandu and Kiren Rijiju the ministers were very excited to be a part of the sport.

It is to be mentioned that Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma was is in Arunachal Pradesh for a launch event.

Taking to his Twitter handle, Arunachal CM Pema Khandu wrote, "Archery is a favorite sport in villages of #Tawang and their proud tradition. Had Hon CM of Meghalaya Shri @SangmaConrad and Hon Union MoS @KirenRijiju try their hands at shooting arrows in Gyankhar village on the occasion of #Losar festival."

Meanwhile, Arunachal Pradesh on Sunday conferred 'Arunachal Ratna', the State's highest civilian award to Major Ralengnao Bob Khathing posthumously for his role in bringing Tawang within the administration of India.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu announced the award during the foundation stone-laying ceremony of 'Major Ralengnao Bob Khathing Memorial' at the Kalawangpo Auditorium here.

"Today is a historic day for the State as we have finally got the opportunity to honour Major Khathing for the contributions he made for the State and the country which was long due," said Khandu.

"Arunachal is elated to honour its true Hero, Major Ralengnao 'Bob' Khathing with 'Arunachal Ratna' — the highest civilian Award of the State of Arunachal Pradesh. The award was announced today during the laying of the foundation stone for Major Khathing Memorial Museum at Tawang," Khandu tweeted later.

The Chief Minister said that Khathing's contribution to India, particularly Tawang will never be forgotten and the memorial would go a long way in promoting tourism in the district and it is through the institution that people will come to know about one of the significant heroes of the country.
