ITANAGAR: The West Kameng district administration has identified 1,316 Healthcare workers to be administered with the COVID-19 vaccine dose, in the first phase, as and when the vaccine is available in the State.

During a meeting of the 'District Task Force on COVID-19', Deputy Commissioner Karma Leki said that the vaccination drive would be carried out in 121 sessions in four blocks of the district, covering 11 Health Centers — both government and private. "Around 42 doctors with 108 nurses would supervise the vaccination process," he said calling upon the officers concerned to make the necessary preparations.

The DC has asked the district's Medical department to check whether all the Community and Primary Health Centers in the district are equipped with facilities such as ice-lined refrigerators, cold boxes, vaccine carriers, power backup facilities etc., and to make necessary arrangements where these mandatory facilities are lacking. "Without these equipments it would not be possible to carry out the vaccination process," he said.

The district's Reproductive and Child Health Officer (DRCHO) Dr T.D. Namsa briefed the gathering on the entire process of vaccination drive — right from its storage to distribution — and also shared the status of Primary and Community Health Centers including that of the Bomdila General Hospital.

Meanwhile, the DC also reviewed the Routine Immunization (RI) status of the district. It was informed by the DRCHO that West Kameng has so far achieved 87 per cent of antenatal care coverage while that of the RI was 81 per cent. The DC called upon the Medical Officers, nurses, ASHAs and Anganwadi workers to put in their best efforts to achieve 100 per cent immunization coverage by December 2020.
