ITANAGAR: The APSCW (Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women) has taken suo-moto cognizance of the case wherein a doctor from Hormin Hospital, Naharlagun, has been named for alleged negligence causing the death of a woman patient by her relatives.

Condoling the demise, the Itanagar wing of APSCW has requested the Capital Complex SP (Superintendent of Police), to conduct a fair and unbiased investigation of the case at the earliest so that justice may be delivered to the deceased and her family.

The APSCW also requested the public to cooperate with the investigation and not to take law into their hands.

On Monday night last, Dr T. Muri of Hormin hospital was allegedly assaulted by some family members of the woman patient for alleged medical negligence leading to the death of the patient.

The hospital was also vandalized. Later, family members of the deceased filed an FIR (First Information Report) in the Naharlagun Police station.

In a joint press statement on Tuesday, the IMA-AP (Indian Medical Association-Arunachal Pradesh) and the APDA (Arunachal Pradesh Doctors Association) condemned the assault on the doctor and the vandalism of the hospital.
