World Heart Day: Free heart check-up camp in Itanagar

On the occasion of ‘World Heart Day’, Hayat Super speciality Hospital, Guwahati in collaboration with Ramakrishna Mission (RKM) Hospital, organized a ‘free heart check- up’ camp here on Wednesday.

ITANAGAR: On the occasion of 'World Heart Day', Hayat Super speciality Hospital, Guwahati in collaboration with Ramakrishna Mission (RKM) Hospital, organized a 'free heart check- up' camp here on Wednesday.

Altogether 138 patients were registered and availed the free heart check-up, and also consultation from heart specialist doctors in a day long camp started in the morning 9:30 am and concluded at 5 pm.

Ayaskanta Chakraborty, executive director of Hayat Superspeciality Hospital, Guwahati, informed this in a press conference here at Press Club, Itanagar. The director also informed that 15 including 2 children out of 138 patients were advised for further treatment.

"The propose of the camp was to create awareness on heart disease and how to prevents from it", said Ayaskanta, adding, ''as we are aware that due to the disease, many deaths have been recorder which is a major concern for every one of us.''

Meanwhile, Dr Suraj Kumar Pradhan, MBBS,MS Chief Cardiac Surgeon of Hayat Superspeciality Hospital, described about the motives of observing the 'World Heart Day', stating that its motive is to educate and encourage people to intake healthy foods, involve in regular exercise and quit smoking so that one can keep their heart healthy and protect from heart disease.

Highlighting about various symptoms of heart patients Dr Pradhan said that there are many symptoms like blue nails, not gaining weight, etc for Children and breathing problem, chest pain, etc were for adult.

"We have observed that there are less heart patient residing in hilly areas due to their physical work and exercise," said Dr Pradhan.
