World Tuberculosis Day observed in Lower Dibang Valley district

ROING: The World Tuberculosis Day was organized by the District Health Society (DHS), NTEP, in the Lower Dibang Valley district along with the Health and Wellness Center to create a public awareness meeting on Tuberculosis at Government Secondary School, Abali near here on Thursday.

District Medical Officer (DMO) Dr Tajing Taki in his speech appealed to the PRI leaders to attend and encourage such awareness programmes. He said the DHS, NTEP is providing free investigation and diagnosis of TB treatment along with financial incentive of Rs 500 per month to the notified TB patients for nutritional support for their healthy diet under Niskhay Poshan Yojana and Rs 750 on completion of treatment under Tribal TB patient scheme. He also urged the students to convey the message on treatment facilities provided to the TB patient to their parents, friends and neighbors.

DTO-cum-DACO Dr SJ Mitapo informed about the aims and objectives of the programme along with the key notes on World TB Day and on NTEP programme. He also explained about TB and its diagnosis and treatment under the NTEP programme.

Meanwhile, ZPM Rajen Mickrow appreciated the health department for organizing the awareness meeting in Abali, and especially the school, as the students can spread awareness on TB to family members, friends, neighbors and the entire village to execute slogan as 'Poorn Sankalp, Sanyukt Prayas' to end TB.
