ITANAGAR: Taking part in the ‘Yoga Mahotsav’ being organized at Dibrugarh University in Assam on Friday, Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein said that this year’s International Day of Yoga holds more significance as it endeavours to connect with the larger global community. Addressing the event, Mein said that India’s G20 Presidency theme of “One World, One Health” resonates with the principle of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”.

Expressing delight for being a part of the inauguration of the countdown to the International Yoga Mahotsav, the deputy chief minister congratulated union Ayush Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, who was also present on the occasion, for the successful conduct of the event, not only across India but throughout the world during 2022.

“Yoga is a wonderful gift of India’s rich heritage that has helped the world become a healthier place. Led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, yoga has become a global movement,” he said. “Today, as we perform yoga, I hope that with its ever-rising popularity, yoga is an occasion to celebrate. I am happy that I can participate in this event today as we work towards a healthier tomorrow,” he added. The theme for this year’s International Yoga Day is “humanity” and is being celebrated globally with widespread participation.

Yoga is an ancient practice that has gained immense popularity in recent years due to its physical and spiritual benefits. The Ayush ministry has been successfully organizing various yoga day events since 2015, which has become a mass movement for health worldwide. The key objective of the celebration is to promote India globally and create awareness about physical and mental fitness.
