According to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the border between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh has not yet been fully delineated in several sections of Dhemaji.

On the other hand, on April 20, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu, reached an agreement to settle a long-standing border dispute between the two states in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. According to an official news release at the time, the home minister stated that the disagreement, which spanned over 700 miles of border, had been "completely resolved."

Furthermore, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma dismissed the likelihood of Arunachali miscreants being behind the attack, claiming that it was a land dispute between locals.

He stated that the police will conduct a comprehensive investigation with the assistance of the district administration.
