KOKRAJHAR: In a new development, as many as 10 members of Gana Suraksha Party (GSP) joined the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) led by Pramod Boro on Wednesday at the party office, Mwiderkhoro in Kokrajhar town. All 10 GSP leaders were the official candidates of the GSP who had contested in the last BTC election but failed to win. The GSP is led by Kokrajhar MP Naba Kr. Sarania.
The GSP leaders who contested in the last BTC election from GSP and joined the UPPL included Dhajendra Rabha (contested from Soraibil), Pankaj Das (Jomduar), Ranendra Koch (Kachugaon), Thaneswar Rabha (Baokhunguri), Sajoy Sarania (Salakati), Hafizur Rahman (Srirampur), Mafidul Ahmed (Guma), ArunBoro (Khoirabari), Daniel Mardi (Nagrijuli) and Robin Murmu (Panchnoi Serfang). The president of the UPPL, Pramod Boro welcomed the new members with traditional Aronai and party symbol in the joining ceremony. Attending the joining programme held at party office, the president of the UPPL and BTC chief, Pramod Boro said that both GSP and UPPL had fought for a change in BTC. Together, they would defeat corruption and mismanagement in the BTC.
Boro said that the new coalition government in BTC would establish a clean and transparent government so that people of all communities could enjoy their rights and privileges. He said that the decision of 10 GSP members to join the UPPL was right and they would ensure equal development tof all.
On the preparations for the assembly election to be held this year, Boro said that they would take initiatives for ground preparations in Kokrajhar and Chirang districts where they lost most of the seats. He also said that the UPPL had become stronger than ever and there would be no major hurdles in the forthcoming assembly election.
