Guwahati: Over
10,000 earthen lamps and a human chain of over 3000 people will welcome the central
leader to Guwahati at around 11 PM tonight.
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda
Sonowal, State BJP president Ranjit Dass, BJP National Vice President,
Baijayant Jay Panda along with other party leaders will welcome Home Minister
Shah to Guwahati. This was said by the state's Finance, Health and Education
Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma addressing a press meet at Janata Bhawan (Assam
Secretariat), Guwahati on Friday evening.
The 1 KM road from the
airport to the National Highway has been decorated with diyas, (Earthen lamp).Over
10 thousand diyas will be lit up to welcome him, and over three thousand
artists from several communities of the state will welcome the Home Minister
Amit Shah with Bihu, Tiwa, Rabha, Karbi, Bagurumba, and many other cultural
programmes.
Home Minister Amit Shah will stay at Inspection Bunglow PWD Amingaon.
The programmes of Home Minister Shah include the distribution of financial grants ranging from Rs 155 crore to 8,000 Namghars (the traditional Vaisnavite monasteries of Assam). The distribution of financial grants is being carried out under the Assam Darshan programme.
Shah will lay the foundation stones for the development of 'Batadrava Than' in Nagaon, Assam.
He will also lay the foundation stones for the Northeast's largest medical college in Guwahati.The Ceremonial programme for the establishment of the second Medical College of Guwahati will be held at Kumar Bhaskar Barman Kshetra, Amingaon, Guwahati on tomorrow (December 26).
And ten law colleges across the state - Tezpur, Diphu, Silchar, Rangia, Dibrugarh, North Lakhimpur, Raha, Bilasipara, Jorhat and Tihu, will come up.
On December 27 Shah will visit Imphal, Manipur.
