BISWANATH CHARIALI: Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) was carried out on 2,009 persons while RT-PCR test was done on 76 persons on Wednesday in Biswanath district. During the test, 12 people were found to be COVID-19 positive and they were kept in home isolation.

Meanwhile, the district administration has geared up to fight the global pandemic by undertaking a good number of COVID preparedness measures throughout the district, including Biswanath and Gohpur subdivisions. Pranab Kumar Sharma, Deputy Commissioner of Biswanath, informed this correspondent that the administration had set a target of 2,000 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) per day and vaccination drive was also continuing at several places. The sanitization drives at public places would continue in full swing.
Health Control Room and DDMA Control Room have been set up and COVID awareness announcements at public places are currently underway. On the other hand, block-level Task Forces were formed for COVID management in the rural areas. Section 144 of CrPC has also been promulgated making wearing of masks and maintaining social distancing compulsory and all offices, banks, business establishments have been instructed to strictly comply with 'No Mask, No Entry' policy. Two enforcement teams, one under the leadership of District Transport Officer (DTO) and other under Circle Officer, are currently ensuring compliance of COVID protocol. The administration has also kept ready 120 isolation beds in government hospitals while 95 beds were kept ready in private hospitals.
