LAKHIMPUR: The number COVID-19 infected people has hiked in Joyhing Division of Johing Koilamari Tea Estate, raising strong possibility of the novel coronavirus contagion being spread to the neighbouring areas.

In view of this apprehended danger, Deputy Commissioner-cum- District Magistrate of Lakhimpur, Sumit Sattawan imposed 144 CrPC  by issuing an order vide No. LMG.3/2019/ 2021 dated 10/06/2021 in order to contain further spread of the pandemic. Notably, there is a significant physical contact between Koilamari Division and Johing Division.

Through the order, the movement of the people, except health officials, good carrying vehicles, officials on essential services, has been prohibited in or out from the geographical area covered by Joyhing Division and Koilamari Division of Joyhing Koilamari Tea Estate, without written permission from Circle Officer, North Lakhimpur Revenue Circle. However, the movement inside the tea garden premises has not been restricted subject to the tea garden management supporting health authorities in getting all the residents of the tea garden tested at the earliest.

The same order has directed the Joint Director, Health Services, to complete COVID testing of individuals inside the tea garden area at the earliest. Further, all the residents inside the tea garden area are directed to make themselves available for COVID testing while tea garden authority are directed to extend all support necessary for mobilizing residents inside the tea garden area as desired by the health officials.
