Diphu: The 14th National Mourning Day for the victims of the Karbi-Dimasa clashes on October 17, 2005 at Charchim-Prisek was observed on Thursday. KAAC CEM Tuliram Ronghang, MP Horensing Bey, several EMs and MACs, student bodies and social organizations attended the 14th National Mourning Day programme and paid heartfelt tribute to the victims of Charchim- Prisek. Also, a moment of silence was observed to pay condolence to the innocent people who died in the clashes. CEM Ronghang paid tribute to the 42 victims who were killed inside a bus at Charchim Prisek on October 17, 2005, by an armed terrorist group and announced that the families of the victims would get Rs 5 lakh as compensation. At the incident site at Charchim, a prayer hall with the estimated amount of Rs 1 crore will be constructed soon through KAAC, said CEM Ronghang. He assured its completion before the 15th National Mourning Day.
