TEZPUR: A 15-day training programme for Agricultural Input Dealers began at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sonitpur campus on Monday, which will continue till October 4. The training has been jointly organized by Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat and District Agriculture Office, Sonitpur. Dr. Arifa Momtaz Begum, In-charge, Head, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sonitpur welcomed the dignitaries and input dealers for the training programme. Deputy Commissioner Bhupesh Chandra Das welcomed the participants and emphasized on the necessity of creating awareness among input dealers regarding knowledge of agricultural inputs.
Speaking on the occasion, Hareshwar Das, Assistant Director of Agriculture elaborated about the impact of weather parameters on crop production, global warming and good agricultural practices for the farmers. Diganta Thapa. SDAO, Sonitpur also welcomed the inputs dealers, and described about the 15 days programme, and prospects and advantages of the programme to the dealers.
Agricultural Inspector, Vivek Saikia highlighted about the different agricultural inputs and their uses in crop production. All about 25 input dealers are participating in the training programme. The inaugural session was conducted by Dr. Namita Dutta, SMS (Soil Science) and ended with the vote of thanks by Sanjukta Saikia, SMS (Plant Protection).
During the technical session on the first day of the training, Dr. Namita Dutta, SMS (Soil Science) KVK. Sonitpur delivered lectures on the overview of Agro-ecological situations of the State, suitable cropping systems for existing agro-ecological situations, relevance of agro-meteorological information for crop production. The day ended with the lectures of Sanjukta Saikia, SMS (Pl. Protection) KVK, Sonitpur who spoke on agro ecological zones of Assam and important crops of these zones, important diseases and their control measures of crops grown in Agro Ecological zones of Assam.
