LAKHIMPUR: The detection of COVID-19 patients continues in Lakhimpur district. As a result of it, the active COVID-19 cases in the district crossed the mark of 1,000 on Friday.
An elderly woman succumbed to COVID-19 in the district in the last 24 hours. She has been identified as Rubia Begum (72), resident of K.B. Road, Ward No. 12 of North Lakhimpur town. She breathed her last while in home isolation.
On the other hand, a total of 170 fresh COVID-19 cases were detected in Lakhimpur in the last two days. Out of them, 82 patients, 80 as per Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) and 2 as per Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RTPCR) Test, were detected on Friday. On that day, a total of 1,508 people underwent the RAT conducted by the District Health Department in eight COVID-19 Test Centres set up across the district, including North Lakhimpur Urban Hospital, Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital Respiratory Clinic and other Block Primary Health Centers (BPHCs). Out of them, the detected cases were reported from North Lakhimpur Urban Hospital (5), Dhalpur BPHC (7), Bihpuriya BPHC (14), Naoboicha BPHC (8), Boginadi BPHC (11), Ghilamora BPHC (4), Dhakuakhana BPHC (1) and Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital Respiratory Clinic (30).
On Saturday, a total of 88 people, 84 as per RAT and 4 as per RTPCR Test, tested positive for novel coronavirus infection across the district. On this day, the District Health Department conducted the RAT upon a total of 1,647 people. Out of them, the positive cases were reported from North Lakhimpur Urban Hospital (5), Dhalpur BPHC (8), Bihpuriya BPHC (7), Naoboicha BPHC (12), Boginadi BPHC (27), Ghilamora BPHC (5), Dhakuakhana BPHC (2) and Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital Respiratory Clinic (18). Out of them, 6 cases have been put to institutional isolation while 77 cases have been put under home isolation
With these 170 fresh patients, the cumulative total of COVID-19 cases of the district has surged to 10,419 since April 4 of the last year. Out of them, 9,187 recovered patients have been discharged from hospitals and home isolation while there are 1,130 active cases in the district at present.
A total of 78 people of the district died due to COVID-19 from April 4 of the last year till date. Out of them, 59 people died in the first wave last year while 29 died in the second wave since April 1 of the current year. On the other hand, a total of 2,374 COVID-19 cases were detected in the district during the second wave of the contagion.
