1st Battalion NDRF rescues flood-affected people in Dhubri

Team of 1st Battalion NDRF on Tuesday reached the village of Airan Jongla Part-I under Dhubri Revenue Circle

GUWAHATI: Team of 1st Battalion NDRF on Tuesday reached the village of Airan Jongla Part-I under Dhubri Revenue Circle and evacuated marooned villagers and transported them to safer places. They are also assisting the district administration in distribution of masks, screening inundated areas and maintained proper social distancing due to COVID-19 emergency. More than 2,660 marooned villagers and 20 livestocks were evacuated this monsoon season by NDRF.

16 search & rescue teams of NDRF are deployed for flood rescue operation in Jorhat, Bongaigaon, Kamrup Metro, Kamrup Rural, Dhubri, Barpeta, Goalpara, Golaghat, Cachar, Kokrajhar, Sivasagar, Sonitpur, Dhemaji and Tinsukia. Besides, four search & rescue teams of NDRF are earmarked to tackle the flood situation. NDRF control room is keeping a close watch in other flood affected areas.

On the development of flood situation, Randhir Singh Gill, Commandant of 1st NDRF Guwahati, said, "Now people need to maintain social distance and use masks, sanitizers. NDRF is always on standby for the affected people at the time of need."
