1st Bongaigaon Kite Festival concludes successfully

The 1st Bongaigaon Kite Festival was organized by Bongaigaon district administration in association with other allied departments

BONGAIGAON: The 1st Bongaigaon Kite Festival was organized by Bongaigaon district administration in association with other allied departments and supervised by East Story Group on Friday at the walking zone. There was also a Bhogali Mela held parallelly with the event.

The festival was held for the first time in the Bongaigaon district with the participation of 51 teams from different parts of the district. The festival started at 8.30 am and was inaugurated by MLA of Bongaigaon, Phani Bhushan Choudhury, in which social worker Shankar Biswas, Greater Bongaigaon Press Club president Ranjit Sharma, secretary Pranab Deka and various dignitaries were also present.

MLA Choudhury thanked the office bearers of the Organizing Committee and said that the beauty of the walking zone had been enhanced. The Three Brothers' team won first prize and the 'Kite Champion' team won second place in the kite-flying competition. The first prize winning team received Rs 10,000 while the second prize winning team received Rs 6,000 and a trophy.

In addition to the kite-flying competition, the organizing committee selected two best kites from among the decorative and beautiful kites and the first prize winner Disha Kumari was awarded Rs 5,000 and the second prize winner Purbi Shah received Rs 2,000.
