1st International Knowledge Festival gets underway at Bodoland University

KOKRAJHAR: The 1st International Knowledge Festival hosted by Bodoland University (BU) with the support of BTC government got under way from Monday at the campus of Bodoland University. The first day witnessed huge student participants from 48 colleges under BU and guests from across the country and abroad.

The goal of the first ever knowledge festival is to create, foster and promote knowledge exchange, solution sharing and partnership building for achievement of social development priorities and key Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), 2030 in contemporary BTR and the world. It aims to draw the best practices from across the world to enhance scientific temperament for the creation of “Peaceful, Green and Smart Bodoland” in light of the Bodo Peace Accord 2020.

The Chief Executive Member (CEM) of BTC Pramod Boro said the goal of the knowledge festival was to create, foster and promote knowledge exchange, solution sharing and partnership building for achievement of social development priorities and key SDG, 2030 in BTR and the world. He said the festival aimed to draw the best practices from across the world to enhance scientific temperament for creation of “Peaceful, Green and Smart Bodoland” in the light of the Bodo Peace Accord 2020, seeks to provide a platform for educators, researchers and practitioners to engage with constituents of higher education institutions in BTR through participation in interactive and collaborative workspace, discussions and presentations.

He also said it will provide avenues for participants to learn the latest perspectives and trends on a given domain of knowledge, methodology and practice pertaining to the SDGs and other priorities, and opportunities for networking and developing collaborative initiatives for the future. He further said a plethora of sessions aiming to encourage spontaneous and informal exchange of ideas and discussions for deepening ties and partnerships will be a key feature of the international knowledge fest Bodoland, 2023.

As part of the programme, the Principal Secretary of BTC Anurag Goel hoisted the Indian National Flag while the Vice Chancellor of Bodoland University and Registrar Dr. Subung Basumatary simultaneously hoisted the flag of University and Festival respectively followed by release of pigeons for peace by CEM of BTC Pramod Boro and EMs of BTC for peace. Boro also flagged off the cultural rally of the students.

The inaugural session of the festival was addressed by Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly Biswajit Daimary, Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi and other dignitaries. The welcome address was given by CEM of BTC Pramod Boro while Nobel Laureate Prof. Muhammad Yunus of Bangladesh gave the key note address. The inaugural function was also attended by Cabinet minister of Assam UG Brahma, Deputy Chief of BTR Gabinda Chandra Basumatary and Vice Chancellor of BU Prof. Laishram Ladu Singh.
