GUWAHATI: The 1st REF Educator Awards, 2022 were given to eminent educationist and mathematician Dr. Ranjana Choudhury, senior teacher Ditty Ahmed and training consultant Vikramaditya Chaudhury at a function in the city on Sunday.
The awards are established by Rivers Education Foundation to acknowledge the contribution of dedicated education professionals who are creative and ingenuous in teaching. Dr Ranjana Choudhury, retired founder and Head of the Department of Mathematics, Handique Girls' College was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for her dedication to making Mathematics engaging for students. Ditty Ahmed, senior teacher at Maria Montessori House of Children, was given the Innovative Educator Award for her creative teaching methods for preschoolers. Vikramaditya Chaudhury, senior training consultant was given the Innovative Educator Award for his effective programs that helped change mindsets and behaviors positively.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest Shantikam Hazarika spoke about the need to give the teaching profession the dignity and respect it deserved and to make teachers part of the policy-making process in education, stated a press release.
