2 more persons succumb to COVID-19 in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: Two more persons succumbed to COVID-19 in Lakhimpur in the last two days. The deceased persons have been identified as Dhanshree Devi (62), resident of Pub Chandmari, Ward No. 14 under North Lakhimpur town and Uma Baruah (65), resident of Bijay Nagar of the same ward of the town. Dhanshree Devi breathed her last in Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) around 10:00 am on Wednesday while Uma Baruah died at 6:35 pm in the same hospital on the same day.

On Wednesday, 70 cases were detected as per the results of the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) while one case was reported as per Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RTPCR) Test. On this day, the District Health Department conducted 2,422 RATs in the nine COVID-19 test centres of the district, including the Block Primary Health Centres (BPHCs) and private nursing homes and registered 70.29 per cent achievement in conducting the RAT in order to detect COVID-19 patients out of the targeted figure 3,430.

On the other hand, 67 cases were detected on Thursday as per RAT while 4 cases were found to be positive for COVID-19 as per RTPCR Test. The fresh cases were reported from North Lakhimpur Urban Hospital (4), Dhalpur BPHC (10), Bihpuriya BPHC (6), Naoboicha BPHC (16), Boginadi BPHC (3), Ghilamora BPHC (4), Dhakuakhana BPHC (9), Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital Respiratory Clinic (13) and Private Nursing Homes (2). On this day, the District Health Department registered 55.95 per cent achievement in conducting the RAT in order to detect COVID-19 patients out of the targeted figure 3,430.

With these fresh patients, the cumulative total of COVID-19 cases of the district has hiked to 13,852 since April 4 of the last year. Out of them, 12,836 recovered patients have been discharged from hospitals and home quarantine while 887 are active cases at present.
