Guwahati: In a major breakthrough, Assam Police arrested two ULFA (I) cadres suspected to be involved in the Teokghat IED blast on 26th January 2020.
The apprehended cadres were identified as Manas Jyoti Patmaut alias Bastab Asom (26) son of Tileshwar Patmaut, R/o Lukhurakhan Goru khua Habi. PS: Sonari , Charaideo and Chow Lakhi Longno alias Rubul Asom (30) son of Chow Koinouk Longno, R/o Borpathar Khamti Gaon, PS: Narayanpur, North Lakhimpur.
As per a press statement by the police, Manas Jyoti Patmaut had joined the militant outfit in the year 2009 and Chow Lakhi Longno in 2017.
Notably, Manas Jyoti Patmaut is a known accomplice of Arohan who is the main suspect on the 26th January Blast. He was armed.
After initial interrogation by 244 Fd Regiment of Indian Army at their Sapekhati COB, the cadres were arrested by Charaideo Police from the army camp today, 30-01-2020 at about 02.00 pm in connection with Sonari PS Case No. 16/2020 u/s 120B/121/121A of IPC r/w Sec 3 of ES Act and section 10/13 UA(P) Act.
The cadres were part of the crack group led by Apurba Gogoi alias Arohan Asom which is suspected to be behind the Serial Blast on 26th January 2020 in Dibrugarh and Charaideo Districts. There were recent inputs of them being seen together near the Assam - Nagaland - Arunachal Pradesh border areas.
Meanwhile, Police also recovered one 5.56mm AR HK33 along with 33 live rounds and 2 Magazines.
Further Interrogation is on and we shall soon get all those who were involved in this misdeed on 26th January, 2020.
