RANGIYA: The police have arrested a 20-year-old man on the charges of sexual assault on a 16 years old girl and sharing videos regarding the same from Rangiya in Assam.
The accused, identified as twenty years old Amrit Das had reportedly raped the 16-year-old girl when no one was at home. He also recorded his inhumane actions using the camera on his mobile phone, which he later shared online.
The incident reportedly took place in the Tulasibari locality of Rangiya and triggered anger among the locals after the incident came to light. A case was registered under The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at the Tulasibari Outpost following the complaint from the victim.
After the case was registered, the local police carried out an operation in the Garbhitor village in Rangiya on Sunday which led to the apprehension of the accused. He was being interrogated by the local police after the capture.
In another similar incident, the headmaster of the Bhanga Higher Secondary School of Karimganj was accused of sexual assault on a female student of his school. He was arrested by the police on Saturday.
According to the police, a female student of class VII of the institution alleged that she faced sexual assault at the hands of the headmaster. Based on the allegations, a case was registered on May 18. Although the court has summoned the accused to be present, he remained absconding for more than a week.
He was finally apprehended by a police team under the Nilam Bazar Police Station in Karimganj. The headmaster was later produced in Court which ordered that he be sent to jail. Following this, the accused was moved to the jail under strict security arrangements mentioned Assistant Superintendent of Police for Karimganj, Amit Raj Choudhary.
