200 cartons of Arunachali liquor seized at Bokahat

GOLAGHAT: Following specific input, a team of Golaghat Excise Department under the supervision of Excise Inspector, Golaghat (Sadar), Niranjan Das on Thursday seized 200 cartons of illegal Arunachali liquor at Bokahat.

As per information, a 10-wheeler truck bearing registration no. JK 02A P4375 was carrying vermicompost from Lekhapani of Tinsukia district towards Guwahati. It was intercepted by Golaghat Excise officials at Lakhowjan of Bokakhat in Golaghat. During search operation, 200 cartons of illegal Arunachal-based liquor were recovered under the vermicompost bags.

In this context, the Inspector of Excise, Golaghat (Sadar), Niranjan Das said that he received information about a truck coming from Tinsukia district to Guwahati which was carrying huge quantity of illegal liquor under the vermicompost bags. He immediately went with Furkating Excise Inspector Mormeswar Das and NarenMandal.

In Bokakhat subdivision of Golaghat district near Lekhapani, the officials raided the truck and recovered huge quantity of illegal liquor. The two drivers, namely Pikpal Singh of Jammu Kashmir and Balbinder Pal of Punjab, were arrested and handed over to Bokakhat Excise. The Excise officials are interrogating them for further details.
