21 Academicians from IIT Guwahati Appear in Stanford University's Top 2% Scientists

GUWAHATI: As many as 21 faculty members and researchers affiliated with the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati has been featured in the top 2% of scientists worldwide. This list has been curated by Stanford University, United States of America. The list was created based on the citations of their research publications using all the Scopus author profiles. The listing was done using the details as on September 1. Their lifetime contributions towards their topics of research are being considered while preparing this list.

Researchers were classified into 22 scientific fields and 176 sub-fields for this listing. The selection process was based on the top 1 lakh scientists enumerated by the c-score (with and without self-citations) or a percentile rank of 2% or above in their respective sub-field. As many as 1,95,605 scientists are included in the career-long database and 2,00,409 scientists are included in the single recent year dataset. The release report is based on the September 1 snapshot from Scopus databases and updated to the end of the citation year 2021.

21 researchers including the current Director, Professor TG Sitharam of the Indian Institute of Technology made it to the top 2% list. The researches included in this list belong to several departments. These include the Departments of Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Biosciences and Bioengineering, Chemistry, Electrical and Electronics of the institution.
