22nd Kargil Vijay Divas celebrated across Assam

The 22nd Kargil Vijay Divas was celebrated in Dibrugarh to remember the gallant efforts and sacrifices of the Indian Armed Forces.

DIBRUGARH: The 22nd Kargil Vijay Divas was celebrated in Dibrugarh to remember the gallant efforts and sacrifices of the Indian Armed Forces. Under the direction of Colonel Sanjeeb Dogra, 63rd Assam Girls' Battalion NCC, the celebration was held in Dibrugarh. NCC Girls' cadets from Victoria Girls' Higher Secondary School, Dibrugarh participated in the programme and interacted with the jawans. Sweets were distributed to NCC girls cadets during the programme.

With full enthusiasm, the NCC Girls' cadet of Victoria Girls' Higher Secondary School participated in the programme and showed their interest to join Armed Forces.

Every year, India observes Kargil Vijay Divas to commemorate its victory over Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir's Kargil district and along the Line of Control (LoC) and pay tributes to soldiers who attained martyrdom two decades ago. July 26, is celebrated as 'Kargil Vijay Divas' to remember the pride and valour of the soldiers who joined in Operation Vijay.

NAGAON: Hundreds of activists of the district unit of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha observed Kargil Vijay Divas on Tuesday at Nagaon and also took out a rally on the occasion from Nagaon Nehrubali field. Over 300 activists from the youth wing of the ruling BJP remembered the sacrifices of the Indian soldiers and paid tribute to those martyrs for their gallant efforts and sacrifices towards the nation. During the rally, taking the Indian tricolour, the participants walked across the small town and saluted the glorious efforts and sacrifices of the soldiers.

Besides, the cadets of the 8 Assam Battalion, NCC as well as the NCC cadets of Nagaon Govt Boys' Higher Secondary School also observed the day with a daylong programme.

The cadets from the 8 Assam Battalion, NCC observed the day with a title as 'To my countrymen, I am the shield, To my enemies, I am a sword' and saluted all the brave soldiers who laid down their lives for the nation and its people.

Significantly, to mark the occasion, the cadets from the NCC battalion, also cleaned up the statue of the father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi and paid floral tribute to him. Besides, the cadets organized a wreath-laying ceremony to honour and remember the gallant efforts and sacrifices of the Indian Armed forces.

Similarly, the NCC cadets of Nagaon Govt Boys' Higher Secondary School also paid tribute to those martyrs who laid down their lives in the Kargil war for the nation as well as for its people. The programme was initiated with a brief lecture on the sacrifices of the martyrs to protect the nation, delivered by Dipika Laskar, principal of the school while NCC officer of the school Saiful Islam anchored the entire programme.
