NAGAON: Over 250 villages under Kampur, Nagaon Dabaka and Raha revenue circles in the district are still reeling under floodwater. The flood water ravaged over 15,324.24 hectares of land with various crops and vegetables in the district.

The flash flood has also hit over 3,51070 people under those three revenue circles of the district for which over 20,692 flood-hit inmates were taking shelter in over 162 relief camps set up by the district administration, sources from the district disaster management authority, Nagaon said, adding that among those relief camps, 15 were active in Kampur revenue circle, 60 in Nagaon Sadar revenue circle while 87 were under Raha revenue circle and 15 villages in Dabaka revenue circle.

As per an official report issued by the district disaster management authority, Nagaon this afternoon, the flood water wreaked havoc in Nagaon Sadar revenue circle and submerged over 68 revenue villages. Besides, the surging water from the Kolong river breached a road near Nagaon, Milanpur a couple of days ago for which a large area of Milanpur, Sutahaibor and Baidatup in the town were reeling under water.

According to the latest report of the district disaster management authority, Nagaon, the flood damaged almost 17 roads constructed by PWD as well as other departments under Nagaon, Kampur and Raha revenue circles. The surface routes to Kampur town from all districts headquarters of Nagaon, Hojai and West Karbi Anglong were being still disrupted for over a week due to breaching as well as damages caused by the flash flood. However it was stated in the report that during the last 72 hours, no death or missing of human life was reported till the filing of this report.
