280 supporters of United People’s Party Liberal, Bharatiya Janata Party and Gana Suraksha Party join Bodoland People’s Front

As many as 281 supporters of United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL)Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Gana Suraksha Party (GSP) on Thursday joined the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF)at a programme arranged at Iragdao community hall, Titaguri in Kokrajhar. Sources from BPF said 160 supporters of UPPL, 52 from BJP and 49 from GSP joined the BPF.

KOKRAJHAR: As many as 281 supporters of United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL)Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Gana Suraksha Party (GSP) on Thursday joined the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF)at a programme arranged at Iragdao community hall, Titaguri in Kokrajhar. Sources from BPF said 160 supporters of UPPL, 52 from BJP and 49 from GSP joined the BPF.

The president of the BPF, Hagrama Mohilary welcomed them with Aronai in the presence of senior BPF leader and former minister Pramila Rani Brahma and president of Kokrajhar district BPF and ex-EM of BTC, Derhasat Basumatary.

Talking to reporters, the president of BPF Hagrama Mohilary said that the 281 supporters of UPPL, BJP and GSP who joined the BPF were from Salakati constituency and they wanted BPF to come back to power. He said many workers and supporters of UPPL, BJP and GSP of BTC region have joined the BPF with enthusiasm in Srirampur and Salakati which signified the comeback ofthe BPF in the 2024 parliamentary election. He also said that more supporters of various parties were keen to join the BPF.

Mohilary said the BPF will not allow the eviction drive in the BTC area. He said the UPPL was behind the proposal of eviction drive as their representatives-Gabinda Chandra Basumatary and Sanjay Swargiary pursued the Minister of Tribal Affairs for eviction.
