3-member NAAC peer team visits Tangla College

TANGLA: A 3-member National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) peer team inspected Tangla College, Tangla one of the prestigious educational institutions offering higher education in Arts, Commerce and Science and Computer Science (BCA), established way back in 1970 in Tangla of the Udalguri district for second cycle of its assessment and accreditation on January 20 and January 21.

The NAAC's peer team was led by Vice-Chancellor of Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya, Chattisgarh, Dr Alok Kumar Chakrawal as the chairperson with Professor of Kalinga Institute, Orissa, Dr Prasant Kumar Pattnaik and Principal of Government College, Bomdila, Arunachal Pradesh, Dr Sangja Khandu as the Member Coordinator and member respectively.

The team convened a meeting with the College Principal and Heads of Departments (HoDs) and visited and inspected various departments of the college. Apart from assessing the infrastructure and facilities of the college, the team assessed the ICT resource of library, facilities of sports, arts and literature and interacted with the teachers, students, parents and alumni. All the stakeholders of the college wholeheartedly participated in the two-day assessment process.

The team also visited Pukhuri Paar, one of the two adopted villages of Tangla College. In the two-day visit, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell Coordinator of the college, Mintu Pathak initiated the events. A cultural programme was also organized by the students for the NAAC team on the first day wherein NSD alumnus and theatre artiste Pabitra Rabha choreographed with his dwarf theatre group Dapon-The Mirror.

Speaking to media persons, Tangla College Principal Dr Prasen Daimari said that the college had been accredited with B grade by NAAC based on different criteria in 2004. He further said that the NAAC team would provide feedback on any shortcoming of the infrastructure and facilities of the college and the grade would be accredited accordingly after a week.
