HAFLONG: In pursuance with the Disaster Management Act, 2005, and with a view to prevent the possibilities of an outbreak and spread of COVID-19 amongst the citizens of Dima Hasao district, three quarantine centres were declared containment zones, following the detection of positive cases of COVID from two of these centres.

Deputy Commissioner and chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority, Dima Hasao, in view of the sealing of the areas mentioned above, has imposed restrictions and no entry and exit of people in and out of the containment zone will be allowed. Vehicular movement is to be strictly prohibited except for medical emergencies and distribution of essential commodities. Vehicles and persons entering and exiting the containment zones will have to strictly follow disinfection protocols. No public and private gatherings and meetings are allowed within the containment zones till the area is declared coronafree.

All statutory and other directions regarding maintenance of social distancing will be strictly enforced. Non-compliance of the above order, will invite section 1 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005. But people of Haflong in particular observed that quarantine centres, in the heart of Haflong town, was not at all judicious as because of these quarantine centres, the entire market and its adjacent residential areas have also come under containment zone causing great inconvenience to people.
