3 Woman Ganja Traffickers Held from Awadh Assam Express in Hojai, Assam

"They were arrested from the coach-S-4 of the Awadh Assam Express. They are currently in police custody," sources said.

GUWAHATI: Acting on a tip-off, a team of the Hojai police, GRP, and the RPF nabbed three women ganja traffickers on Wednesday night.

According to reports, the ganja traffickers were held from a coach of the Awadh Assam Express Rail(Down) with a large quantity of ganja. The traffickers carried 18kg and 800gm ganja with them, sources said. Sources added that the women traffickers brought the ganja from Dimapur to deliver in Kolkata.

"They were arrested from the coach-S-4 of the Awadh Assam Express. They are currently in police custody," sources said.

It could be noted that the Assam police have been waging a war on illicit drugs and arrested a large number of traffickers in the last four months apart from seizing a huge quantity of drugs to and fro of the state.

The Darrang Police, in their continuing intensified drive against anti-social elements, on Wednesday evening at around 7:30 pm recovered 30.355 kg contraband ganja packed in six seal packets and arrested one Gautam Sinha (26), son of Jagadish Sinha of village Niz Dalgaon under Dalgaon Police Station.

In the regular checking of vehicles on NH 15 in front of Dhula Police Station, Deputy Superintendent of Police (HQ) Pranjal Borah, accompanied by Officer-in-charge of Dhula Police Station, Sub Inspector Kalyan Borah intercepted a Mahindra Jeeto vehicle bearing registration number AS 13 AC 1939 and during the search, the ganja was found hidden in rice bags.
