30 bags of subsidized fertilizer seized, 3 held by Haiborgaon police

Haiborgaon police, led by SI Taranga Patowari, on Wednesday night seized 30 bags of fertilizers allocated on subsidized prices for farmers by the government from a Dimapur-bound Star bus while the bags were being illegally transported in the bus from Moirabari to be sold in Dimapur in Nagaland.

NAGAON: Haiborgaon police, led by SI Taranga Patowari, on Wednesday night seized 30 bags of fertilizers allocated on subsidized prices for farmers by the government from a Dimapur-bound Star bus while the bags were being illegally transported in the bus from Moirabari to be sold in Dimapur in Nagaland.

Subsequently, police arrested three persons in this regard. Sources claimed that three arrested persons of Moirabari - Ashikul Islam, Tajnul Islam and Abu Hanifa – were transporting the 30 bags of fertilizers in the bus to Dimapur to be sold to someone else. Police have registered a case in this regard and also started further investigation. Sources said that a large gang of smugglers was actively involved in the illegal trading of subsidized fertilizer in the district.

On the other hand, Nagaon police arrested two other youths from Sivasagar Amguri area for providing shelter to wanted fraudster Mridupaban Neog in their house. Sources claimed that Raktim Gogoi and Abhijeet Gogoi of Amguri area in Sivasagar district were arrested for providing shelter to wanted fraudster Mridupaban Neog in their houses.

Both the arrested youths were interrogated for long by Nagaon police at Nagaon Police Station to find out the location of the absconding criminal, Mridupaban Neog, sources added.
