35 teak logs seized from Putani Panigaon village in Nagaon

Based on a tip-off, forest protection squad led by forester Hemanta Saikia from Nagaon protection range seized over 35 pieces of teak wood logs

NAGAON: Based on a tip-off, forest protection squad led by forester Hemanta Saikia from Nagaon protection range seized over 35 pieces of teak wood logs from Putani Panigaon village on Tuesday night.

Sources claimed that the logs of teak wood were being stored secretly in a jungle of the village with a view to transport them somewhere for sawing. Meanwhile, the protection squad brought all the valuable logs to the office of Nagaon Forest Division for further legal proceedings, sources said, adding that the owner of the seized logs of the timber is yet to be ascertained by the officials of the department concerned till the time of filing this report.
