36 cattle rescued from truck by Sonitpur Police

TEZPUR: Sonitpur Police busted yet another cow smuggling operation near Tezpur University tiniali and Mission Chariali under Tezpur Police station in Sonitpur district and recovered 36 cattle. The whole operation was carried out under the supervision of SP Sushanta Biswa Sarma and Additional SP Madhurima Das.

Talking to The Sentinel, Additional SP Madhurima Das said that as many as 20 cattle were rescued from a truck bearing registration number AS 01/CC 9367. She added that during Naka checking by Tezpur traffic branch 20 bullocks were recovered. However, the driver managed to flee away taking advantage of darkness. The bullocks were sent to Trinayan Gosala Chariduar for safety and shelter. Out of 20 bullocks one was found dead, Madhurima added.

Sonitpur Police foiled another smuggling attempt and rescued 16 cattle from a truck bearing registration number AS 01EC 2261 coming from Lakhimpur side laden with 16 cattle near the NRL petrol pump at Mission Chariali under Kacharigaon Outpost of Tezpur Police Station. During the search, we found 16 cattle in the truck and seized the vehicle. Out of 16 cattle, three cattle were found dead, said Jakir Hussain, IC Kacharigaon OP. Hussain further said that one car bearing registration number AS 02L8582 was also intercepted nearby the Mission Chariali who was escorting the said vehicle and apprehended one person Rajib Ali, resident of Samoguri in Nagaon district.
