HAILAKANDI: 36 passengers of South Assam's Barak Valley are arriving by 07047 BB Nagar-Jiribam special train at 1.30 am on Tuesday. Assistant Commissioner, Parikshit Phukan informed that the train that departed from Hyderabad on Saturday would reach Badarpur railway station at around 1.30 am on Tuesday. Phukan said of the total 38 passengers, 12 are from Hailakandi district, 20 from Cachar and 4 from Karimganj district. He said that as per the government list, total 25 passengers from Hailakandi booked for the train but only 12 boarded it. This will be the fourth special train ferrying stranded people from different parts of the country to South Assam's Badarpur, Manipur, Agartala and Mizoram. The Hailakandi district administration has set up screening desks manned by health and police personnel at the Badarpur railway station. "After arriving at the Badarpur railway station, the Hailakandi district administration's COVID-19 response teams will receive the passengers, screen them and conduct other necessary health check-ups whilst maintaining social distancing," said Joint Director, Health Services, Dr. Ramesh Chandra Dwivedy. The administration has arranged buses to ferry the passengers to the district. The administration has ordered 14-day compulsory quarantine at designated institutional and community quarantine centres for everyone coming from other states.
